Retreats consist of two parts:
  1. Dieta
  2. Post-Dieta

DIETA
'Dieta' refers to the Shipibo shamanic tradition of isolating in the jungle (minimum 7 days), and 'dieting' a healing plant.  This is not a psychedelic - it is simply a healing 'teacher' plant from the Amazonian jungle, that is chosen for you according to your needs.

You are required to abstain from eating oil, sugar, salt and spices, while you drink your 'teacher' plant and meditate in the jungle without electronics, books, social interactions and any sexual activity. Creative outlets are encouraged such as singing, drawing/painting, or expressing yourself through a musical instrument.

During the dieta, you will participate in Shipibo ceremonies where indigenous shamans will sing 'icaros' to you - sacred healing songs. You have the option of drinking Ayahuasca during these ceremonies but it is not required.

Depending on your needs, different dieta retreat centres are appropriate and can be discussed in person (please scroll to the end of this page to contact me directly).
Please note: during the ceremonies with authentic indigenous shamans, you will be offered Ayahuasca. However, it is not necessary to drink in order to participate in the ceremony and the Dieta portion of the retreat.

In reality, you are learning from your 'teacher' plant (non-psychedelic) in the heart of the Amazonian jungle - and while Ayahuasca can greatly enhance that experience, she is not the purpose of the retreat itself. You can still participate in the ceremonies and receive the healing effects of the icaros and plant spirits.
POST-DIETA
Once your dieta is finished, you will need to re-integrate foods with oil/spice etc., slowly increase your social interactions,  and process everything you learned from your 'teacher' plant. This is a period of grounding, and is a sacred time of integration. This is an important step in the entire experience, since you will be very sensitive after so much time in isolation.

Post-dieta accommodation is provided in a beautiful and quiet setting, where you are given a private tambo (jungle cabin), with a number of activities in which you can participate:
  • meditation in an Indigenous Maloca
  • jungle tours to Pacaya-Samiria Natural Reserve with local English speaking guide
  • boat trips to the primal origin of the Amazon river
  • plant medicine workshops
  • arts and crafts workshops, like embroidery and carpentry but also gardening, working with permaculture principles
  • limited-offer activities depending on the season

You can enjoy like-minded company, and homemade food including in-house bread, organic eggs, and fresh produce from the local markets of the indigenous communities.  Everything from a variety of local tomatoes to exotic fruits and fish from the surrounding area are served. There is also the possibility of connecting with ease with loved ones through Starlink's high-speed satellite internet.

All retreats are located in the Peruvian Amazonian jungle, near Nauta, in a rustic setting.

AYAHUASCA

The Ayahuasca is referred to in Quechua as the 'vine of the dead', and indeed it is for the ego. Ego-deaths can be quite intense, and must be properly prepared for - before, during and after.  Ultimately, Ayahuasca is to be used as a catalyst for further healing, but the process of growth can be uncomfortable at first. It is best experienced when you have already done the inner work prior, and continue to do the inner work afterwards.  Ayahuasca is not a silver bullet - rather it is a doorway into deeper understanding of the self and requires committed integration afterwards.  The EFT Intuitive Sessions will prepare you for the experience, as well as assist you afterwards so that the gains obtained are maximised to your benefit.

The retreats I facilitate exist in the context of the sacred cultural practices of the Shipibo tribe, in the Peruvian Amazon. We call on the spirit of the plants to assist in your healing, and in return, they require the utmost respect.  You will be asked to eat a special diet, termed 'dieta' - no oil, no salt, no sugar and no spices - and have an isolated place in the jungle to meditate, journal, draw, play music or otherwise express yourself. During the ceremonies, you will have the option of taking Ayahuasca and the shamans will sing you 'icaros' - healing songs in Shipibo - that are chosen specifically for you, according to what they see in your energy field.

Please note, the Ayahuasca brew does cause vomiting and can be quite hard on the body. Only those with a clean bill of physical health should consider this healing modality. Any medication needs to be set aside for at least 6 weeks prior. Further details on health requirements will be sent upon inquiry.
